I am Cait: Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner?

The second season of Caitlyn Jenner’s I Am Cait premiered episode 6, “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner?” on E! Sunday night. This season follows Cait and her pals Candis Cayne, Jenny Boylan, Chandi Moore, Zackary Drucker, Kate Bornstein and newcomer Ella Giselle as they get on a bus and travel across the country to raise transgender awareness.

***Spoiler Alert***

“The home that I have never been to that I was always homesick for.” – Jenny Boylan

This week, the I am Cait girls were off to New Orleans. They discussed the subject of genitals on the bus and how it is not appropriate to ask a transgender person about them. The conversation would turn to gender reassignment surgery. “The home that I have never been to that I was always homesick for.” says Jenny Boylan in reference to her need to see a female body when she looked into the mirror. In one her funnier moments she talked about how it “took her a while to figure out how to work it.”

During lunch Caitlyn tells the girls that Kris Jenner is coming to meet them. The girls express there concerns and make sure Caitlyn is ready for it. Next they all pop into a bridal boutique and Caitlyn and Candis try on some wedding dresses.

Caitln’s sister Pam shows up and they talk more about marriage and learning from experiences.  In the meantime back at the hotel, Jenny grabs the confessional cam and jokingly grills Caitlyn about meeting Kris in a version of “I am Jenny”. She talked about how maybe it didn’t go as well as she thought the last time they talked. Jenny is worried.

Kris arrives at the hotel and it becomes obvious that Caitlyn and Kris have never really had the conversation they need to have, at least with the two of them actually hearing each other. Jenny takes her “I am Jenny” show to Ella back at the hotel. Ella confesses her love for chocolate milk.

The girls meet Kris and they all gang up on Caitlyn about her political views. It seems Caitlyn got worse over time. Caitlyn talks about stealing Kris’ earrings and stealing the key to her closet. In an uncomfortable moment, Kris asks the girls what trans girls do with their “bits and pieces”. Dead silence. The girls explain how they don’t define a person and they educate her.

“Is it too late for you to be the worlds best friend?”

Kris and Caitlyn next get into how Caitlyn feels she told Kris about being transgender and Kris feels she didn’t. Jenny talks about how a loved one may tune out the news and also how Caitlyn seems to think by simply mentioning something she is having a deep discussion. Kris says she always wondered why Caitlyn was so unhappy. When Jenny asks her how she would of handled things had she known about Caitlyn ten years earlier, to which se responded, “I would have been the world’s best friend.” This prompted Jenny to ask, “Is it too late for you to be the worlds best friend?” They toast to the new normal and hit the streets of New Orleans to celebrate.

Jenny is all “femmed” up, letting loose and dancing on stage in a club. Meanwhile Kris confronts Caitlyn about dating men and Caitlyn says she is not worried about it right now as she couldn’t see herself dating a guy unless she had surgery.

“I can’t wait to see you guys again..not you Jenner,  just your friends.”

The girls seemed to have a blast as they bonded with Kris and got some good insight on Caitlyn. It becomes obvious that Caitlyn in Kris have a lot to work out. The show closes with Caitlyn going to see Kris in her room to finally have “the talk”.

Well the story this week is about talking with your partner when you come out. Jenny Boylan had a great point about how even though you tell someone, they may not be actually hearing it. It may need to be told multiple times. They obviously have never seriously talked about it and I see it as a good thing that they are finally going to. Jenny Boylan was the comic relief this week and it was good to see her let loose a bit. It is also good to see Ella get more involved with the group. We’ll have to se if it all works out next week.
