Thank you, Attorney General, Loretta Lynch! Seventeen days ago, you lambasted North Carolina and Governor Pat McCrory for failure to repeal HB2 legislation. Your swift, affirmative action and subsequent response resounded hale and hearty throughout the transgender community. Personally speaking, THANK YOU!
Your history making stance was a loud as the civil rights movements from decades past and as recent as the giving ALL couples, regardless of gender and sexual orientation, the inalienable right to join in wedlock.
I feel for you, hailing from North Carolina, I can only imagine your inner conflict between upholding the justice in the face of insolent ignorance from the state of your roots. Your stoic confidence in the power of justice stands as a stark reminder of what struggles made this Republic of the United States of America over two centuries ago, and what still continues to forge the greatness of the USA.
Let me also speak directly to the transgender community itself

Let me also speak directly to the transgender community itself. Some of you have lived freely for decades. Others of you are still wondering how you can possibly live the lives you were born to lead. But no matter how isolated or scared you may feel today, the Department of Justice and the entire Obama Administration wants you to know that we see you; we stand with you; and we will do everything we can to protect you going forward. Please know that history is on your side. This country was founded on a promise of equal rights for all, and we have always managed to move closer to that promise, little by little, one day at a time. It may not be easy – but we’ll get there together.

Loretta Lynch was sworn in as the 83rd US Attorney General by VEEP, Joe Biden on April, 27, 2015. She graduated Harvard, in 1981, with her A.B. cum laude than earned her J.D. in 1984 from Harvard Law School. Mrs. Lynch joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, located in Brooklyn, New York, in 1990. Prosecuting civil rights cases, most notably the Abner Louima in 1997, were an important part of her tenure there.
President Bill Clinton appointed her head the office of the United States Attorney in 1999, a position she held until 2001. In 2002, she left to partner in the firm of Hogan & Hartson LLP (now Hogan Lovells). She left in 2010, when Barak Obama -POTUS, asked her to return to lead the US attorney’s office -Brooklyn. She held this position until she was elevated to US Attorney General in 2015.
